I was born during Ohio State’s presence in a 1961 Final Four. Likely I am one of the few Buckeyes out there who is a bigger basketball than football fan.
Don’t get me wrong, though, I love Ohio State football.
I grew up in Marion, Ohio.
My first contact with any Ohio State event was through a The Best Damn Band In The Land Skull Session held in St. John Arena.
My family attended many Ohio State basketball games in St. John Arena in the mid 1970s, 1980s and early 1990’s.
I attend games now but only once a year as I do not live in Ohio and live many hours away.
Why Ghost of St. John Arena?
My deep interest in Ohio State Buckeye Basketball was created in that building, the framework of which was built by the Mt. Vernon Bridge Company, I feel as though a part of me still exists there.
Ohio State basketball is dead within St. John Arena but, regardless, my Buckeye soul constantly remains in contact with the beloved historical building and my memories of experiences inside it.
